Lesson 4 (DP)
Standards: 1,2,3,5,6
Objective: SWBAT move and echo patterns to a steady beat, create their own rhythmn pattern and play it on a percussion instrument, echo basic diatonic patterns, sing a simple song with confidence, and identify the notes of the treble staff, play BAG songs on the recorder.
1. Notes of the staff mini-quiz
2. Circle- review break policy, one word stories
3. Dancing- Paul Simon dance
4. Singing- Pass the Do, have everyone echo around the circle. Return to seats. Sing from America Sings
5. 4/4 patterns - chanting patterns
6. Playing Percussion- Pass out a variety of percussion instruments.. We will echo patterns and
play one round of improv.
7. Recorders- Make first sound on recorders, begin working through BAG sheet
8. One word whip- confidence
Assessment: Observation, Verbal Feedback, Mini-quiz
Lesson 5 (DP)
Standards: 1,2,3,5,6
Objective: SWBAT move and echo patterns to a steady beat, create their own rhythmn pattern and play it on a percussion instrument, echo basic diatonic patterns, sing a simple song with confidence, and identify the notes of the treble staff, play BAG songs on the recorder.
1. Bell-ringer- kinds of notes and rests
2. Circle- Have you ever?
3. Dancing- Paul Simon dance ask for volunteers to suggest movements.
4. Singing- Pass the Do, have everyone echo around the circle, Solfeggio, Sing from America Sings
5. 4/4 patterns - chanting patterns
6. Playing Percussion- Pass out a variety of percussion instruments.. Begin playing some 4/4 patterns
7. Recorders- BAG sheets. Assess students by hearing them play in small groups, Introduce improvisation pattern
8. One word whip- One job that you can think of that uses music in some way
