Parent Permission to Read Young Adult Novel
Dear Parents,
Students in eighth grade demand stimulating reading to develop a reading habit and discover enrichment books can bring to their lives. Through novels, they experience a whole gamut of characters and situations that are crafted by authors to honestly reflect all aspects of our world. Books that challenge young adults to think and respond to life experiences are carefully selected for the library and classroom collections. Because the genre known as “Young Adult” begins to tackle more adult issues, some books may contain offensive expressions and painfully realistic situations. These books have been set aside so parents may participate in their child's selections and may have the option to grant permission for those books that may have offensive words or passages.
