Jenkins, B. Jerry. Hometown Legend. New York: Warner Brothers, 2001.
In Hometown Legend, written by Jerry B. Jenkins, is a very good book about a high school football team from Athens City, Alabama. They lost the state championship and the coach’s son died on the final play. This is an excellent read for an eighth grader who likes football. It also teaches a lesson that you can overcome fears and thoughts that haunt you. |

Cormier, Robert. Tenderness. I am doing a review on Robert Cormier’s book, Tenderness. "Other people? Did you take a close look at them? Who they were what they were? You killed your mother and father, Eric. In cold blood.” This was the lieutenant talking to Eric Poole in the book. Did he really kill people? And if so who the heck were they?
Lori was a runaway looking for any kind of love or tenderness she could find. Eric was a teenage serial killer who just got out of jail. They met by chance and also because Lori had a crush. They ran away together, but Eric’s old habits caught back up with him. Would he kill her too? Or would he grow to love her?
Robert also wrote these two other books, In the Middle of the Night and The Rag and Bone Shop. This book gives you an insight on what its like to runaway, and what its like to feel lost and confused. Anyone could relate to this book. |

Wallace, Rich. Wrestling Sturbridge . New York: A.A. Knop,1996.
This book will be easy to read for people who like to read sports books. Or for people that like wrestling and understand it. This book is very intense. It has happy parts and sad parts in it.
This book tells how a boy named Benny try’s to make a spot on the wrestling team at Sturbridge high. This team has very good kids and also to potential state champs. He almost beats him in wrestle offs most of the time. Then he gets his chance because the boy he tries’s to beat gets suspended for three days and he gets his spot and wins a tournament. Then the next tournament is the sectional tournaments but he has to wrestle him off, does he win?
I will recommend this book for people who likes sports books and has a lot of book reports to do. It took me a week to read this book. |

Paulsen, Gary. The Beet Fields. Delacorte Press, NewYork, 2000.
In this book there is 16 year old boy who left home because he hated his parents because they were drunks. The boy worked with some Mexicans on beet fields for a while until he met a farmer who wanted him to work all summer for him. The boy worked there for a while until a cop came along looking for a runaway and had to take him in to check if it was him which it was, but the cop didn’t know. At the station the cop stole his money and the boy escaped prison and caught a ride from a guy who was killed shortly after by a pheasant flying through the windshield. Then the boy caught a ride from a nice girl named Hazel or lady I should say and took him home to work there for a while. One day when they went to a town Carnival he met up with a carnie who offered him good money to work for him so he did and left Hazel. While working in Carnivals he met another carnie named Ruby who was a stripper and beautiful and ended up making love to her. |

The title of my book is 'Hitler's Daughter'. The author of this book is Jackie French. The type of book this author wrote is fiction. The main setting of this book is on a rainy day at the bus stop in Wallaby Creek Progress Association. In this story a girl named Anna tells a story about every day to the small Kindergarteners, at the bus stop. Then one day Anna tells a story to the kids about Hitler's daughter, and the kids believed it, and so does one of the bigger kids. That bigger kid's name was Mark and he believed Anna's story for some reason. In the story he tries to find more information from Hitler's daughter. My favorite part in the book was when the bus driver picked up the kids and yelled at them for being too loud, so the bus driver told them to "Shut Up and be quiet". If I were to grade this book I would give it an F- -, because it is boring and only stays on one subject. All the book does is stay at the bus stop and at their school, plus all they do is talk about Hitler's daughter. |

Ritter, John H. The Boy Who Saved Baseball. New York: Philomel Books, 2003.
The Boy Who Saved Baseball has been one of the best books I read this year because of the realistic ness of the baseball game and the uniqueness of the book. In this book, one game determines the outcome of a small California town. Tom Gallagher hopes that they will win this game with the help of Dante Del Gato. This book is great for eighth graders because this book will help you believe in miracles. And if you work hard enough, you can accomplish anything. |

Spinelli,Jerry. Stargirl. NewYork: AlfredA.Knopf, 2000 Stargirl is a really great book. I think everyone should read it. It’s about a girl who doesn’t care about what people think about her. She just does her own thing and is nice to everybody. think any one who reads this book might be inspired to be a better person. And not care about what other people say. |

Hautzig, Deborah. Second Star To The Right . New York: Greenwillow Books, 1981
“I wish she was home more often.” Does she ever get better? Deborah writes a greatly fascinating book called Second Star To The Right. Leslie suffers from a disorder called anorexia. She goes to a hospital and is secluded from her world back home. She is watched when she eats and sleeps until she decides if she will get better. I thought that this book was very emotional, but a very good book.

Hoffman, Alice. Green Angel. New York: Scholastic Press. 2003 This book is about a girl who lost her family in a fire, she has to survive by herself. She meets some people, and she changes her name and has very tough times but she finally makes it through, and comes back to herself. The best part of this was when she cries and can finally see again. I like this book because she goes from one personality to another. And at the end not everything becomes fixed. This book is not an award winner. Some similar titles are Young Adult by Nicholasa Mohr, another similar book is The Perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
