$1,000 medical scholarship offered by the Guthrie Troy Community Hospital Auxiliary
Guidelines for this application include:
  1. Academic subjects during high school must include science, health, and math.
  2. Applicant must participate in community activities. School activities and outside job are considered part of community activities.
  3. Academic standing in the upper one-third of graduating class.
  4. Application and acceptance into accredited school/program of higher learning immediately following graduation from high school for that year’s fall and spring semesters.
  5. The applicant shall write a 500-word essay expressing reasons he has chosen his medical field. The essay time frame is from the beginning of the school year and must be submitted by the second Tuesday in April to the school guidance office. This time frame will be strictly adhered to with no exceptions.
  6. Submit at least two letters of recommendation as follows:
    1. At least one letter from school faculty AND
    2. At least one letter from qualified member of the general public, such as a minister, an employer, a 4-H leader, a Girl/Boy Scout leader, an athletic coach, etc.

The family of John and Tyler Alexander would like to offer a $1000 scholarship to a former baseball or softball player of Wells-Jackson or South Creek Little League. This former player will embody the ideals and values of the league. A one-year $1000 scholarship will be awarded to an eligible Troy Area School District senior to assist with college tuition or with fees associated with the first year of trade school instruction. Please include with your scholarship application a brief, essay sharing the impact of Little League Baseball/Softball on your personal and academic development.

Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority 2023 David T. Terrill Environmental Stewardship Scholarship Fund
Background
Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority (NTSWA) has strived to meet the solid waste disposal needs of Bradford, Sullivan and Tioga Counties, Pennsylvania, since 1973. This has been accomplished by operating an integrated solid waste management system. This system is accompanied with an educational program geared to encourage residents, of our service area, to manage refuse wisely and to participate in local recycling, composting, and\or household hazardous waste programs. As part of this educational program, NTSWA would like to encourage and support individuals furthering their education in an environmental field. This support shall be in the form of a scholarship.
Scholarship Awards
NTSWA awards three scholarships annually, one each in Bradford, Sullivan and Tioga Counties, Pennsylvania. Each award can be any amount up to or exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) if deemed appropriate by the Authority Board of Directors. The award will be made payable directly to the award recipient’s institution of higher education in the second semester of study. NTSWA reserves the right to withhold an award due to the lack of eligible participants for one or all of the three counties affected. NTSWA reserves the right to make additional awards during the approval process. NTSWA also reserves the right to withhold an award in the event that the recipient does not successfully complete the first semester of higher education.
Eligibility
The applicant must meet the following criteria to be considered eligible for the NTSWA Scholarship:
1. The applicant must be a resident of Bradford, Sullivan or Tioga County, Pennsylvania or a student that does not live within these limits but attends a school within these limits.
2. The applicant must provide documentation of acceptance at an institution of higher education (junior college, four year college or a university) in a field related to the environment (i.e. biology, chemistry, environmental science, meteorology, etc.) or waste management. This may include graduating high school seniors as well as first semester college freshmen.
3. If awarded the scholarship, the recipient must provide documentation of completion of their first semester and registration of a second semester. The award cannot be distributed until such information is provided.

Application Process
The applicant must complete the application form provided by NTSWA and attach the required documentation. The applicant must also complete an essay on a topic related to the solid waste management field. This essay must be at least four (4) pages, double spaced, and include a separate works cited page. All applications must be received by or post marked by April 5th of each year. Submit applications to the Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority, 108 Steam Hollow Road, Troy, PA 16947 Attention: Leigh Twoey.
Review Process
The scholarship applications will be reviewed by NTSWA staff and\or Board of Directors. The applicant from each county, with the highest average score, will be awarded the scholarship monies for use toward their higher education.

The Troy Jr Sr High School Common Scholarship Application is used to select recipients for a list of local scholarships coordinated by the guidance office. This application is also used by some outside contributors when selecting the recipient(s) for their award/scholarship.

Be sure to COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FORM ONLINE (https://forms.office.com/r/jRAPJLRZuD) AND PRINT A COPY TO SUBMIT WITH YOUR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS.  Please include ALL supporting documents with your application.

Applications are due in the Guidance Office NO LATER THAN February 28th, 2023.  The guidance office will strictly adhere to this deadline.

Supporting documents include:

  • Transcript release form
  • Copy of SAT/ACT scores from College Board – These will be on your transcript.
  • Copy of your college/school/program acceptance letter and/or confirmation of military enlistment
  • Complete the FAFSA and attach the summary sheet showing your Expected Family Contribution (EFC*) – This will be just one page.  *This information is kept confidential and used only by the Scholarship Committee in the selection process when it is applicable.
  • Signed Certification Statements – found below.
ESSAYS
Essays should be typed and double spaced.  If you have an activity sheet or resume, please include it with this application. You will not need to answer questions one and two in essay form if you provide this information on a resume or activities sheet. Please type all essays and submit them with this form.
  1. Please provide a brief description of the high school activities that you participated in.
  2. Please provide a brief description of any work experience that you participated in while in high school.
  3. Please provide a 200-300 word description of any community service/volunteer experience in which you have participated and how it has impacted you.
  4. Please include a 200 word personal statement of your goals or perhaps aspirations/dreams upon graduation from high school.
  5. Armenia Mountain Essay described below – OPTIONAL
The Armenia Mountain Wind Energy Project awards a $1000 scholarship each year to a Troy student who intends to major in one of the following science related fields:
  • Science
  • Engineering
  • Math
  • The energy industry
  • Other related fields
If you are pursuing a career in one of these areas, please type an additional essay on an applicable energy related topic to be considered for this scholarship.  This recipient of this scholarship is elected by the Armenia Mountain Wind (ACE} committee. They will use the Troy Common Scholarship Application along with this essay to aid in their decision.

The Troy Area Education Association -TAEA/ESP scholarship
This scholarship is for the son or daughter of a TAEA/ESP member who is going on to a school of higher education. Preference will be given to students planning to enter the teaching profession.  Selection will be by a committee selected by the TAEA/ESP presidents. Names will be covered during the selection process.

TROY LIONS HUCK FUND SCHOLARSHIP 
This scholarship is based on financial need, first generation, activities and academics.

WELLS-JACKSON LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP - AVAILABLE NOW!
