What is Title 1?

Title 1 is one of the nation's largest Federal Programs through which school districts receive federal funding to provide supplemental instruction for students based upon academic need.  The goal is to increase performance and academic achievement in the area of language arts.  Schools are identified as Title I based on the economic level of the families who attend.  The number of students receiving free and reduced lunch qualify a school to receive Title I funding.  Our Title I program is designed to help students in grades K-6 improve their achievement in reading by providing tiered instruction and intervention resources that are tied to raising the student's achievement.
