I earned my Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Lock Haven University; worked in a daycare for one year, followed by substitute teaching; taught sixth grade Language Arts in North Carolina for four years and earned K-12 Gifted certification; taught in Milton Area School District for 2 years as Gifted Support teacher and earned 7-12 English certification; taught at TECE as a first grade teacher, and then have bubbled back and forth between 5th and 6th grade, teaching a combination of ELA, science, and social studies.  I'm in the middle of completing my MEd degree in Technology Education and will be teaching 5th grade English Langauge Arts this school year.
I enjoy to read, hike, swim, play with my cat, hang out with my family, and be outside in my spare time.  My daughter is in Kindergarten this year, and our family time takes up any spare time!
Note to Parents: eBackpack is going to be where you find ALL assignments and updates.  Access eBackpack by going to the TASD website and clicking the eBackpack link under Resources. Lesson Plans are a weekly layout of ALL classes, including ELA, writing, WIN, and the daily schedule.  The Learning Focused page is a collection of unit plans, and they all include standards, planned assessments, and unit concepts.  LFS plans do NOT have a daily breakdown of classroom activities, and are generally more for educational and administrative reference than parental and student usage. Writing, Online Books to Read, and Educational Websites are pages within my site that are occasionally accessed in class, but could be accessed by any student at any time.  The Archived Materials page are any online resources we've used in class, with the exception of Pearson and Discovery Education materials (as they are copywritten and login-based), as well as past lesson plans.

I also have a fan page titled, "Mrs. Allen's Classroom" on Facebook.  You can "like" the page to get periodic updates and reminders about classroom activities.
