My goal as a reading teacher is to encourage kids to become excited about reading. My goal is to help children develop skills as independent, fluent readers. I aim to do this in a fun, active, and supportive way. I want children to be engaged and explore multiple ways to experience learning. My hope is to see children use their imagination, become passionate about reading, and to be a witness to those life changing"Ah ha moments".
I am a graduate of Mansfield University. I have a master's degree in elementary education as well as a reading specialist certificate. I have been teaching for 15 years. This will be my 12th year teaching for the Troy Area School District.
I grew up on a dairy farm in the Wyalusing area, but now live near Dushore in the "big village" of Overton. I am married to Rob and we have three daughters, Maddy, Morgan, and Korie Anna. Maddy is ten, Morgan is eight, and Korie is two. Besides teaching, I enjoy camping, walking/fitness, watching NASCAR and of course, reading. Another hobby of mine includes driving in in the Sullivan County Fair demolition derby.
