STEM Press Release - Jan 6th, 2021







The Troy Area School District STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) department received notice of a Repsol Oil & Gas USA, LLC Donation Grant award in the amount of $3,500.00. 

This grant is a first for the newly minted TASD STEM department. This grant will fund a classroom set of (10) Drones to be purchased from DroneBlocksEDU (https://www.droneblocks.io). With this kit students at TASD will have the opportunity to create, engineer, and code friendly indoor Tello drones using a mixture of Block, Python and JavaScript code. In addition to the hardware, the kit includes is a drone simulator, and an all-inclusive curriculum (100+ Lessons on Block, Python, and JavaScript Coding) for students and teachers grades 4 to 12. 

This equipment, as well as a new partnership with Repsol representatives, will provide students with a real-world, hands-on opportunity to explore drone technology in the field of STEM and is the first step of many to developing a comprehensive K-12 STEM program at TASD. This cutting-edge program offers students the opportunity to explore college and career pathways in the field of STEM.
