Date: 10/18/17

On 10/17/17, several rumors regarding a potential of a student bringing a gun to school today. The local police were notified immediately and interviewed the students reporting this possibility. The school district also notified the state police.

Students who are alleged to be part of this situation have been suspended today to assist in the investigation of this issue.

State police will be available and be a presence in the district today.

The local police have notified us that they have an active investigation and have interviewed a number of individuals. There is no evidence thus far of any threat directly related to these students or any evidence of wrongdoing on their part. The police will provide additional follow-up to this situation, continue to investigate and to monitor.

At this time, the police investigation is ongoing and no gang affiliations have been discovered thus far.

The police recommend that all parties focus on factual information and refrain from having discussions in front of or with students which have no basis in fact. This adds to the anxiety that students and faculty may be experiencing.

We will continue to keep you informed of this situation.  Please contact the office with any questions.

Thank you!
