The Community

Troy Pennsylvania is located on U.S. Rt. #6 at the intersection with PA Rt. #14 near the west branch of the Susquehanna River in the Northwestern corner of Bradford County.  (Northeast Central Pennsylvania).

The northern boundary of the school district is on the New York State line and the western boundary is the Tioga County (PA) line.   Troy is located nearly equidistant between Elmira, NY to the north, Towanda, PA to the east, Mansfield, PA to the west and Canton, PA to the south.  Troy Area School District encompasses approximately 275 square miles

The School

Troy Junior Senior High School is a renovated facility boasting a plant and equipment conducive to a superior education.   The high school has grades 7 through 12 with a total enrollment of approximately 650 students.

Troy Junior Senior High School offers a truly diversified curriculum.  Major areas of concentration are academic, business, family and consumer science, agriculture, and industrial arts; with a non-specific general program also available.   In addition, Troy Area School is a sponsoring district for the Northern Tier Career Center.  This permits our students a wide range of educational opportunities.

Pupil Assesment 

• Grading Troy Junior Senior High School awards Carnegie Units based on a 42 minute year-long course schedule.  One credit is awarded for each year-long course, .5 credit is awarded for each semester course, and .25 credit is awarded for each 9-week course taken.
  

• Class Ranks: Class rank is determined at the end of each year for grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 with an interim ranking at the end of the third marking period in grade 12 to determine certain awards.  The final rank at the end of 36 weeks of grade 12 is based upon eight semesters.

• Student Assessment:  Subject grades are determined by teacher-made tests, classroom observation, and evaluation of student work.
  

• Dual Enrollment:

  Junior and Senior students at Troy Junior Senior High School have the opportunity to enroll in the following courses and receive credit at Troy High School and Keystone College, Lackawanna College, Mansfield University, and Pennsylvania College of Technology:

Troy students also have the opportunity to partake in the Mansfield University ESP program courses to earn both high school and college credit.

Our available Dual Enrollment courses may vary from year to year.

Graduates

Approximately 51% of Troy Junior Senior High School graduates in the class of 2022 will further their education at post-secondary institutions, with approximately 44% entering four-year institutions and 7% pursuing two year degrees.  Also, approximately 6% of the class of 2022 will be entering the armed services.
