Hello! My name is Marie Gibble and I want to welcome you to the WR Croman Primary school counselor webpage. I hope you will take time to read the important information about the school counseling and other services offered to students at Croman. Throughout the school year I plan to provide parents/guardians updates about student activities happening here at Croman and make some positive phone calls home about your students.

What Does a School Counselor Do?
School counselors help ALL STUDENTS acquire the KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES, and SKILLS needed to be successful in academic, career and social/emotional development
At Croman Elementary School, this happens at 3 different levels:
Level 1- ALL STUDENTS receive wellness lessons during the specials rotation. These lessons teach students about many different social-emotional skills, such as identifying and expressing emotions appropriately, coping skills, communication skills, and problem solving skills.
Level 2- SOME students receive small group counseling and/or instruction. Small group counseling and instruction is for students who need extra help learning specific skills. Small group counseling is typically short-term.
Level 3- FEW students receive short-term individual counseling. Individual counseling is meant for students who have higher individual needs or need help with a problem that is not appropriate for a group setting.

CHOP Snack and Backpack Program at Croman Elementary
Child Hunger Outreach Partners, or CHOP, provides healthy snack options for ALL STUDENTS at Croman Elementary. Each classroom has a bin filled with snack items that students can choose from.
CHOP also provides a "Backpack Program" for ALL STUDENTS! Each week, CHOP provides a grocery bag of food for students to take home for the weekend. If interested in this program, please contact the school and a consent form will be sent home with your student.
A huge thank you to CHOP for providing both of these services to our students!
PBIS at Croman Elementary
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide three-tiered system of support aimed at meeting the needs of ALL students in school. PBIS is an evidence-based system that has been shown to improve students' academic achievement and social-emotional competence, and reduce office disciplinary referrals and bullying behaviors.
Research also shows that teachers are more efficient in teaching, believe the school health and climate is more positive, and believe schools are a safer place when PBIS programs are implemented throughout the school.
