TASD Flexible Instruction Day (FID) Update:

As we move through the remainder of the school year, I want to provide some clarity regarding potential weather-related school closures. We are hopeful that the worst of the winter weather is behind us and that spring is on its way. However, I would like to clarify how any future Flexible Instruction Days (FID) will be handled within the Troy Area School District.

Based on guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, school districts may now transition to remote learning, when necessary, without special state approval. That decision is made at the local level and falls within the superintendent's responsibility to manage district operations, consistent with board policy.

If weather requires us to close a school building, we will shift to remote learning for the day. We will use the term "Remote Instruction Day." Functionally, all instructional expectations and requirements will remain the same, ensuring we operate within an approved framework during any remote learning days we may deem necessary.

Our goal is to maintain continuity and uninterrupted learning, meet and exceed state instructional requirements, and keep our instructional calendar intact whenever possible. We are committed to ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance while prioritizing student learning. If weather conditions require it, we will transition to remote learning as needed.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Thank you,

Brad Feldmeier
