Hall of Distinguished Alumni

The Foundation Board has established the following criteria for election to the Hall of Distinguished Alumni:

"Candidates shall be high school graduates and generally shall have graduated from or attended Troy Area Schools (or shall have, or previously have had, a close and valued relationship with the Troy Area School District or the Troy Area School District Foundation).  Candidates shall be of good moral character and designation as a member of the Hall of Distinguished Almni shall be a credit to the Hall and to the Troy Area School District Foundation."


To nominate someone to as a Distinguished Alumni please complete a nomination form from one of the following locations:

All nominations for entry into the Hall must be received by September 1st each year and those successful candidates will be inducted at a fall assembly at Troy Memorial Auditorium.

2015 Recipients
 
ARTHUR E. “ART” DICKERSON
Art Dickerson graduated from Troy High School in 1953 and remained in the community. He became a printer and typesetter by trade, served as Justice of the Peace, and in retirement continues to be a painter. He serves the community as an officer of the Alparon Park Board and organizes the vendors for the Maple Festival held there each year. An active member of the Columbia Cross Roads Methodist Church, he lends a hand when needed and sings in the choir. For many years Art also sang in the Old Hymns quartet. Longtime member, past president and secretary of the Sylvania Lions Club, he is active in its recycling program, fundraising activities and a member of its Demolition Derby Committee, which is featured at the Troy Fair. He is a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, the highest honor conferred to a Lion in recognition of humanitarian efforts. Past volunteer activities include the Boy Scouts and Little League. He has spent his life giving back to the community where he grew up and where he and his wife raised their four children.

ROBERT W. “BOB” GRANTIER (1956-2015)
Bob Grantier graduated from Canton High School in 1974 and received a BS and Masters from Bloomsburg University. He later continued his education receiving a secondary principal’s certificate from Bucknell University and a superintendent’s certificate from Marywood University. Bob married and raised 3 sons. His career with the Troy Area School District spanned 31 years where he was a teacher, football coach, dean of students, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. Building projects were among his many accomplishments as Troy’s Superintendent including the construction of a new state-of-the-art auditorium. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Troy Area School District Foundation, shepherding it through its beginning years. In 2009 he left Troy, served one year as the Superintendent of Schools in Pine Grove, PA and then retired from the Loyalsock Township District in 2014. Bob was a member of many community and professional organizations demonstrating his belief in youth and public education.
